Canadian Collectibles

The term collectibles in fine art refers to works that are painted by artists that may not have obtained the recognition as say Tom Thomson or Lawren Harris, but are just as competent. Collectibles include oil paintings, watercolours, etchings, signed prints, etc. by these accomplished painters.

Why would art buyers be interested in Collectibles? There are several reasons. Collectibles are relatively inexpensive and a great way to start an art collection. They very often have greater investment growth potential per dollar than originals by the better known artists. They can be fun to collect and display in your home or office and you can have signed works of even the Group of Seven although they will be limited edition prints, silk screens, or posters.

"Canadian Collectibles 2007" will feature Yvonne Housser, Fred S. Haines, George Lonn, William Winter, R.W. Burton, Dorothy Stevens, Peter Haworth and others. Learn more about the artists at Canadian Collectibles Artists. Many famous Canadian artists' pictures were reproduced as silkscreen by Sampson Matthews Ltd. for the war effort in the thirties and forties a selection of these will be available for purchase as well.
